The Inventory Associate is responsible for inspecting the intermodal units arriving and departing the facility daily. This would include inspecting the unit numbers and each trailer and container for damage, as well as completing necessary paperwork as required by the customer.
Qualifications:
- Must possess a valid driver's license and have your own reliable transportation.
- Must be able to pass a drug screen/physical.
- Must be able to pass a background check.
- Must be able to work a 12-hour shift.
- Prospective employees must be available to work nights, weekends, holidays and OT.
- Must have excellent written and verbal communication skills to coordinate with a variety of individuals.
- Ability to listen, learn, take direction, make changes, and work alone or in a group environment.
Responsibilities:
- Verify all container, chassis, and trailer numbers for accuracy.
- Inspects all intermodal units arriving and departing the railroad intermodal facility on the train for accuracy on unit numbers and initials.
- Responsible for completing all required paperwork for the customer accurately.
- Responsible for overseeing and documenting any damage to arriving or departing units in a timely and accurate.
- Responsible for special tasks requested by management and/or the supervisor.
- Be familiar with all intermodal units while maintaining a safe distance from moving vehicles.
- Inventory Associates are required to wear Personal Protection Equipment (PPE), such as a safety vest, safety glasses, safety toe boots, and a protective hard hat, when applicable.
- Maintains a quality environment where performance inspections are handled accurately, safely, and accident & injury-free.
- Maintain company values, rules, policies, and procedures to fulfill the company's mission, as well as productive relationships with customers and vendors.
- Operate a motor vehicle for up to 12 hours a day.
- Perform daily pre-inspection to verify the conditions of the tires, oil levels/leaks, lights, flashers, radio, damage, and camera.
- Maintain awareness and organization within the rail yard, to include attention to the ground surface (potholes, debris, and/or slippery conditions).
Work Environment:
- Required job duties are performed in outdoor environmental conditions, including rain, snow, ice, cold, heat, wind, dust, and fumes.
- The position may also be required to travel throughout the yard, verifying the number of units either by walking or driving.
- The noise level in the work environment is usually high.
- Normal exposure to computer screens.
